Now with considerable mileage on my 440 I have to say it fixes about 80% of the shortcomings of the Himalayan and seems the best "low speed" option available today. It can reach 130kmh which is important on western Highways, the brakes are good, the power is sufficient and much better than the 411 has while maintaining the simple construction that allows for almost anyone with a complete tool set to fix anything "at home".
Notable are:
center stand
great new front brake
added considerable torque (dont be fooled by the official "just one HP more" announcement.

you can easily add the OEM rear carrier of the Hima - its a direct fit as well as the panniers of the same.
even seats made for the Hima (like the saddle design I use) are easily and quickly adapted.

The west seems to have to wait a bit longer but it is expected to show up there as well, maybe worth wasiting for if you are in the market for such a bike:
I asked Grok:

The Royal Enfield Scram 440 is not currently available outside India as of September 21, 2025. It launched exclusively in India in January 2025 as an upgrade to the Scram 411, featuring a 443cc engine and other enhancements. While it's expected to expand to markets like the US, UK, Europe, New Zealand, and Australia—typically with a delay of several months to a year—no official launches have happened yet, and it's not listed on Royal Enfield's international sites.

Importer here informed me that the 440 is not coming to Australia, certainly not on the list, next arrival is 750 Himalayan.
Beware of Grok, it learns, ie it doesent know until it harvests the information from someone that does.
Today I searched " Heat cycle royal enfield super meteor" ,,

Total rubbish if you know what a heat cycle is, Grok does not!

Its called "hallucination" - all AI does it. Some say its inherent in the basic design so will never be overcome.

That is a concern, AI is being heralded as the next big thing and it's corrupted already.
So maybe best not to throw away the Encyclopaedia Britannica after all
Maybe we will have to think for ourselves :ROFLMAO:

I asked Grok:
excellent just what I wanted to here -- can you feel the extra weight over the 411 scram ?
does the 440 use the same front brake pads as the 411 ?
I'm running an EBC disc on the front , and Ferodo ( non sintered ) pads , the back has been upgraded to a brembo disc and Ferodo pads, on my 2023 411 scram, I also ditched the abs , at least I can lock the rear now, front is much better over stock , will the 440 front caliper and master cylinder fit the 411 ? and do you think it will improve the brakes even more ?, ---thanks for your help.

I did not even know they had different weights but you are right, 179 vs. 187 kg. Do I feel it? I dont know, I have never owned a 411 scram, only a bunch of Himalayans. Regarding brakes: both have 300mm discs but the 440 has a bigger front caliper 32mm vs 30mm. rear is the same as the 411.
The effect is very positive, while I changed the front brakes in all of my Himalayans (which is the same as in the scram 411) I do not feel the need to do anything in the 440.
will the 440 brake fit the 411? GROK says no and I dont know. But as of my experience (see also the 6-gear thread) it is extremely difficult to get any parts for the 440 so this is likely a purely academic question.

also: I am not a weight fetishist. At 100KG I could easily loose more weight by fasting a bunch of weeks than by taking stuff off my bikes LOL.
I have added a rear carrier, panniers, a larger seat, crashbars and other stuff that will add a couple of KGs. I dont care. If I go on trips I carry quite a bit of luggage anyway.

I think the weight gains are from thicker tube in the subframe, which gives the bike a higher luggage carrying capacity, I'm 68kg , so I justify carrying extra semi unnecessary spares as ballast. My mate in Chennai bought a 440 back in April , he has done time on my 411 and he says the 440 has balanced and rounded out the scram model perfectly.
