This is a new one, you can see your face in it.

And the Valve tip itself,

its has started to self destruct.

I'm about to fit new, better quality valves... let's hope for the best. Do you know if there are screws that are even better than the original ones?

There would be something similar you would imagine.
It would be a matter of finding another engine that uses screw adjustment and 6mm 0.7mm pitch screw.
Do you know a motorcycle cycle wrecking yard?.

I am not suggesting that these parts are of suspect quality but point out that the kilometers were not high perhaps I mistreated them.
This head is my number 5, so divide 5 into total kms of 15000 and you start to wonder how may kms it has done.

For the price of the parts I would suggest they are changed every 4th oil change :ROFLMAO:

I wonder how there are engines with 100,000 km and those parts still work
or my own which has now 55,000 - and still works

The last time you took a picture of yours did it look like mine?

Second Tappet screw failure, different bike, this has done about 3000kms.
look at 4 o'clock .

I have just replaced my tappet screws, due to them being slightly misshapen and having dished valves , alas with RE parts, do you know of another manufacturer (Honda?) of M6 tappet screws that would be worth a try? Could be an after market item to add to the HT shop?

I was looking at BMW 1150 GS tappets ,not sure if they are M6 ,look like they may be fine thread 1st pic, then saw these listed on eBay pic 2 for a Himalayan? I would be happier with a BMW part if they fitted rather then an unknown manufacture that could grenade in your head ,so to speak. Any input on this style of tappet screw?

I have just measured the RE tappet screw, they are a fine pitch 0.75mm thread M6 and 20mm long including the square end.

Are the R1150 good to fit then?
Not sure yet, after asking on a couple of BMW forums that I belong to, no one has got back to me regarding thread pitch. At the weekend I'll have a look at my R1100S, need to check valve clearance anyway. I just thought that the foot had a better contact patch rather than the domed Himalayan valve screw. There might not be enough clearance, wont know till I try.

17225772225223200074165173806940.jpg this would appear to me to be the same pitch as the ebay sample you found, can you post the link pls.

Sill waiting for a delivery, but I don't think there will be enough room for the foot between the rocker and the top of the valve, as I only have about 3mm , and would need a bit of room for the foot to sit square on the valve. not sure about taking a couple of mm off the bottom of the rocker arm  . We will see.
