India temporarily suspends postal services to US

Q: When can you ship again?
A: the most likely is I wait for the crazy tariff situation to settle - at which time the PO will work again.
that would depend on how the supreme court decides (should be soon). if they decide not to hear trumps rejection of the turning down of his tariffs by a lower court (his fake claim of emergency) automatically that decision stands and the tariffs are out the window. lets hope for that.

The AD was rejected by my bank (or whoever is responsible in the backoffice). My bank rep wrote:

At the moment they are not giving AD to ecom users

I assume ecom means online shops like mine - so they basically only allow B2B with high volume.
That means no shipping to US until the Trump tariff issue is resolved.

In late August 2025, the U.S. administration under President Donald Trump ended the "de minimis" exemption, which had allowed packages valued under $800 to enter the U.S. duty-free. This change, effective August 29, 2025, introduced new tariffs and customs requirements on low-value imports, creating uncertainty for postal operators worldwide. Many national postal services responded by temporarily suspending or restricting parcel shipments to the U.S. to avoid financial losses, logistical issues, and unclear procedures for collecting duties. Letters, documents, and small personal gifts (often under €100 or equivalent) are typically exempt from these suspensions, but merchandise parcels are broadly affected.

As of October 7, 2025, over 30 countries have announced such measures, according to reports from the Universal Postal Union (UPU), PostEurop, and national postal operators. These suspensions are temporary, with many services aiming to resume once systems adapt (e.g., via prepaid duties or alternative carriers). However, disruptions persist, impacting e-commerce, small businesses, and personal shipments. Private couriers like DHL may still operate but at higher costs.

### Additional Impacts and Outlook
- **Europe**: 22+ countries via PostEurop (e.g., all EU members listed) are affected, with potential expansion to 32 more if unresolved.
- **Asia-Pacific**: Widespread halts, disrupting e-commerce from sites like Temu and Shein.
- **Canada**: Not primarily due to tariffs but a separate postal strike (suspended services to/from U.S. since late September 2025); some tariff-related rejections reported.
- **Resumptions**: Services like Royal Mail and Japan Post aim for quick restarts. A UPU conference in Dubai (September 2025) discussed solutions, but as of October 7, many remain paused.
- **Alternatives**: Use private carriers (e.g., FedEx, UPS) or wait for updates. Check USPS International Service Alerts for real-time status.

For the latest, monitor your national postal service or the UPU website. This situation stems from policy aiming to protect U.S. manufacturing but has caused global supply chain chaos.

This shit will continue for a while longer:

There has not been a final resolution to the court decision challenging President Trump's tariffs imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA). On August 29, 2025, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit affirmed a lower court ruling from the Court of International Trade, holding that executive orders imposing "reciprocal tariffs" (on goods from nearly all countries) and "trafficking tariffs" (targeting fentanyl-related imports from Canada, Mexico, and China) exceeded the president's authority under IEEPA. The appeals court ruled that IEEPA's provision to "regulate" imports does not explicitly authorize tariffs or duties—tools historically reserved for Congress—and applying it this way would violate the major questions doctrine due to the tariffs' massive economic impact (potentially trillions in revenue and trade disruption). The court did not deem the underlying national emergency declaration "fake" but focused on IEEPA's lack of tariff-granting language, even assuming the emergency preconditions (e.g., unusual threats from trade deficits or drug trafficking) were met.

However, the Federal Circuit stayed enforcement of its ruling pending appeal and vacated the lower court's broad permanent injunction, remanding for reconsideration of narrower relief. The Trump administration appealed to the Supreme Court, which agreed to hear the case, with oral arguments scheduled for November 5, 2025. The stay remains in effect until the Supreme Court resolves the matter, allowing the tariffs to continue for now. As of October 7, 2025, the case is ongoing, with no decision issued.

Australia Post is accepting parcels to the USA, tax was initially shown as 10% but then not charged to me?
Anyhow the receiver will let me know what happens his end.

This is the form used here in OZ, it has section for exporters that I never have filled in before.

Yesterday when I sent a parcel to the States I was the first customer at this PO to have done so.
Anyhow as the PO worker was entering the details into his system I was asked for the "country of origin"(to which I lied and stated as Australia ).
Then I was informed of a 10% tax which eventually did not show up in the cost calculation anyhow, had I stated India as the country origin I wonder if it would have been 50%?

Good question - but taxes are paid by the receiver, not the sender. so no wonder it wasn't asked of you but it will be asked of the receiver.
In any case, I would be happy if India Post would allow at least under 100 $ shipping but as lazy (and stupid) as they are they give a shit.
Why would I say lazy and stupid? there are POs here who decline to send anything outside of India - not because of Trump but because the "operator" does not understand the new software and is either too dumb to learn it or too lazy.
I have now 3 packages ready to be shipped to US which I could easily claim as to be under 100 $ - but I guess India will wait it out as explained above.

Initially the 10% came up on the invoice and I was notified, but then the final price didn't reflect this amount.
New systems always take time to settle.
You may have to resettle your manufacturing business to the States or wait for new regime.

Now India Post also includes CANADA in the "no shipping" policy, albeit for different reasons:
