Here we post the latest updates.
Check the day you order - if it is "on the way" additional tariffs will NOT apply retroactively (from day of shipping).
The Indian post office charges whatever taxes are levied directly when I hand them the parcel. It is now part of the shipping invoice.
Here is a screenshot from today where I have sent a 410cc BB kit - you can see the section DUTIES with 4874 Rupees to be paid. That is actually a little less than the 10% I would have expected.
Important timing
The 10% Section 122 surcharge is a temporary measure authorized for 150 days, and it's set to expire around July 24, 2026 — just over a week from now. India and the US have been racing to finalize an interim trade agreement before that deadline (talks were still ongoing in late June with no final signature yet), and there's real uncertainty about what replaces the 10% rate:
If Congress/the administration lets it lapse with no new deal, imports could revert to MFN-only (~2.5% for this part).
If a new India-specific deal is signed, a different negotiated rate could apply.
If Section 122 is simply extended, the 10% could continue.
From today the 10% automatic surcharge (for tax payments at the post office) have been removed.
USA orders are now processed like any other order. No added surcharge.
